ESF Interlingual Research Grants
The Esperantic Studies Foundation offers Interlingual Research Grants of up to $10,000 to support publishable research on issues it considers to be relevant to its mission. This program is particularly designed to benefit postdoctoral researchers and junior faculty who are in the process of establishing a research program, although anyone may apply.
Eligibility
All individuals and organizations are eligible to apply for Interlingual Research Grants. ESF particularly welcomes applications from graduate students planning dissertation research and from untenured faculty members
How to Apply
You may apply at any time. Before applying, you may contact any officer of ESF to discuss your plans and ideas. When ready to apply, send us a written statement describing:
- your qualifications, including relevant education, skills, knowledge, experience, or prior published and unpublished research (you may include transcripts, certificates, and copies of written work);
- the problem on which you propose to conduct research;
- the research you propose to conduct;
- the expected value of your proposed research to theoretical knowledge, practical solutions, or both;
- where and in what form(s) you hope to publish your research results;
- how the proposed research will relate to other work you have done and expect to do;
- the human and institutional resources available to you for your conduct of the research;
- the equipment, supply, service, travel, and other costs you expect to incur in conducting the research;
- the minimum amount of direct support that you would need to receive from us in order to conduct the research, and a proposed schedule for the payment of direct support;
- the period of time during which you expect to conduct the research;
- if applicable, the amount or proportion of support, if any, that the institution with which you are affiliated would require as compensation for its indirect costs in hosting your research;
- the names and addresses (including Internet mail addresses and telephone numbers) of at least three persons who are qualified to attest to your qualities as a researcher or research group.
Funding Schedule
If we offer an Interlingual Research Grant to you, we shall divide the grant amount into installments to be paid during your research period and after submission of your final report. Typically, we offer to pay installments totaling two-thirds of the grant during the research period and a final installment of one-third of the grant within one month after you submit a final report satisfactory to us.
Recipients of Interlingual Research Grants may also be invited to participate in occasional ESF meetings or conferences.

Interlinguistics Fund
This fund was established under the leadership of Dr. Detlev Blanke (Germany) to support small grants for Interlinguistic-related publications, conferences, and similar activities.
